The Vice-President of Nigeria Prof Yemi Osinbajo has urged Nigeria youths  to join politics instead of sitting back to complain about bad leadership in the country. Osinbajo gave this advice at the emerging political leaders’ summit which held in Abuja on Wednesday,  22th November. One of the three nominees for the position of Resident electoral commisioner,  Ahmed Mahmud, screened by the Senate on Thursday was rejected. His name was  included in a list of nominees President Muhammadu Buhari forwarded to the Senate for approval.  Senator Sulieman Nazif, representing Bauchi north, led the opposition against Mahmud. Nazif told his colleagues that Mahmud did not have the backing of his state governor, Abdullaziz Yari, and some stakeholders. However, two other nominees sailed through the screening process. They are Rufus Akeju and Mahmud Isah, who were nominated as the RECs representing Lagos state and Kebbi state respectively.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the National Leader of the APC , says there will be no automatic ticket for President Buhari to run as APC's presidential candidate in 2019 as the party would follow the normal democratic process of conducting a primary to elect its presidential flagbearer.  Speaking after a meeting with members of pan-Yoruba group, Afenifere, in Ondo state earlier today, Tinubu said the leadership of the party had not endorsed President Buhari as its sole candidate for the forthcoming presidential election. A  pastor in delta state has reportedly died during an alleged sex escaped  with a 19-year-old-girl in a hotel room in Kwale, Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta state Delta Police Command Spokesperson, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, confirmed on Wednesday in Asaba. He said the victim’s wife reported the incident to the police on November 19. The spokes man of  Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, Fabian Benjamin saus JAMB has suspended the sale of the 2018 application forms earlier scheduled to commence on Wednesday, November 22. He said this Tuesday evening in a press statement. He noted that the postponement was due to the delay in meeting the agreed deadline by the publisher of the compulsory reading text meant for prospective candidates for the 2018 UTME. Pastor  Chris Oyakhilom e of Christ Embassy was reportedly gifted a jet aircraft by some members of his church on Sunday night. Emmerson Mnangagwa, a former vice president of Zimbabwean , who was sacked by Robert Mugabe, would be sworn in Wednesday, media reports say. Local media and Zimbabwean sources said Mr. Mnangagwa would be sworn in within 48hours that's Wednesday to replace Mr. Mugabe who resigned on Tuesday after 37-years in office as president. The 75-year-old was removed from office and exiled 13 days after Mr. Mugabe accused him of disloyalty and insubordination. Mr. Mugabe had reportedly taken the action to pave way for his wife, Grace, to emerge as the new leader of ruling Zanu-PF ahead of the country’s general election next year. Mr. Mnangagwa is said to be popular amongst the powerful War Veterans group and the Zimbabwean military chiefs. The ruling party is said to have adopted Mr Mnangagwa as their candidate for the next years Presidential elections.

A man has been nabbed at a motor park in Obudu, Crops River with pistols buried in bag of garri. The suspect identified as 32-year- old Emmanuel Akamabe, resident at Ranch Road in Obudu was arrested on Tuesday morning at the Obudu Motor Park by Mr. Martin Umbie, the Chairman of  National Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW. He was found with two Barreta pistols, two empty magazines and two live rounds, hidden in a bag of garri. The  Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Monday decried the way Nigerian doctors are leaving the country in droves saying the government now has an opportunity to bring back the doctors. Mr. Osinbajo, who spoke at the 60th-anniversary celebration of the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, said that the dismal levels of job satisfaction caused by poor healthcare system in Nigeria were responsible for the “alarming” brain drain in the country’s health sector. The vice president’s remarks comes a few days after the Chairman, Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Lagos State branch, Olumuyiwa Odusote, lamented the exodus of doctors from Nigeria. The West African Examinations Council, WAEC, has released the results of the Nov/Dec 2017 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE which was  taken by 131,485 candidates. Many people are feared to have died after a bomb blast in Mubi, Adamawa state, after teenage boy detonated his explosives after morning prayers at a mosque. About 30 people are believed to have died in the resulting blast. According to the Adamawa State Police Command,  the suicide attack occurred around 5:20am at Kunu Araha, a suburb in Mubi North. “We were made to understand that there was a bomb blast at a mosque in Mubi and over 30 lives were lost. A boy about 17-year-old wearing a suicide vest entered the mosque along with other worshippers. Immediately after the prayers, he detonated the bomb.  Many of the wounded are receiving treatment at various hospitals in Mubi North where the attacks occurred around Kunu Araha area” Othman Abubakar, the police spokesman said. The Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, TRCN, Lagos State, on Monday said about 51 teachers did fail the Professional Qualifying Examination, PQE, conducted by the council on 14th of october Gbolahan Enilolobo, the state coordinator of the council, disclosed that 412 teachers sat for the maiden edition of the examination. He said the failure of the teachers was mainly because they were not conversant with the use of the computer, adding that many of them are not digitally compliant. The TRCN had on October 14 conducted the examination for the teachers, through Computer Based Test, CBT. The examination was to qualify the successful teachers to register as professionals and be licensed with the council. According to Enilolobo, the unsuccessful teachers will have to re-register for the examination, and after three consecutive attempts, if they still fail, they will be disqualified. “About three of the teachers exited without even completing the examination, indi...

Four people have reportedly died in Imo state after consuming locally-made alcohol, also called   Ogogoro . The incident occurred at a drinking joint at Imerienwe community, owned by one  Uwadiegwu Eze , in Ngor-Okpala local government area of the state last week. Agbara Emma, a community leader, said the victims started complaining of stomach pain few minutes after taking the drink and that the story changed by Saturday. He gave the names of those who died as  Chibuzor Nwosu, Ifeanyi Nkwocha, Ada Danganer  and  Friday Osuji. Three men and a woman.
