Scientists discover an enzyme that can Eliminate plastic wastes

Scientists have accidentally discovered a mutant enzyme that can fully eat up and decompose common plastic, and could help the world solve the problem of plastic waste. Researchers in the US and UK examined an existing enzyme which had occurred naturally in landfill sites and was able to slowly digest man-made plastics. But in the course of testing the enzyme's origins, the researchers made biological changes to it that turbo-charged its ability to digest plastics, according to  Britain's University of Portsmouth . According to The Guardian , the enzyme starts breaking down plastic in a matter of days, a process which would take centuries under normal conditions. The enzyme is called PETase, because it eats  polyethylene terephthalate  (PET), the lightweight plastic used in bottled water and soft drinks. Professor John McGeehan, one of the scientists leading the study, said: "Serendipity often plays a significant role in fundamental scientific researc...

10 Reasons why the Church should involve in politics

Recent events have raised the issue, Should the pulpit always avoid politics? It depends on what we mean by “politics;” it demeans the pulpit to use it for partisan politics. But here are ten reasons why I don’t think politics and religion should (or even can) be completely separate: 1) The Word of God has something to say about all of life, beyond just the spiritual. My long-time pastor, Dr. D. James Kennedy, once noted that the Church of Jesus Christ has always been opposed to abortion—from the very beginning. It still is. In the last generation, abortion has become a “political” issue. Does that mean, asked Dr. Kennedy, we should now ignore it in the pulpit? No, because the Bible is pro-life. 2) The Bible itself addresses the issue of governing in different texts. There are biblical books dealing with political rulers—1 and 2 Samuel, 1 and 2 Kings, Judges. In Genesis and in Daniel, we see godly men serving well in pagan courts, for the good of all. In Romans 13 and 1...

Nigeria will stop importing and exporting fuel by 2019- Femi Adesina

The Special Adviser to the President of Nigeria on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina  has said that the country will stop importation and exportation of petroleum products by the year 2019. He said that importation and exportation of fuel has a high effect on the lingering fuel crisis because the country does not produce the product locally and the refineries do not work, which makes room for little hitches in the inflow. “When you import fuel and do not produce fuel locally or the refineries do not work once in a while fuel scarcity should be expected, as long as you have those variables not under your total control you can’t rule that out. Mr Adesina made this known while speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, where he explained that the Minister of State For Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachukwu, has drawn a timetable leading to 2019, noting that part of the plan is that Nigeria will stop importing but exporting.
