Tinubu Slumps and dies in Lagos

The immediate past Chairman of Lagos State Sports Commission and special adviser to Lagos state governor on commerce,  Deji Tinubu is dead.According to Thisday, Tinubu who is also a former board member of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, slumped and died while playing football at the retreat organised for Lagos Commissioners and Special Advisers with Governor Akinwunmi Ambode present at the event in EpeHis family and associates in sports circle has  confirmed his death.Tinubu, who was certified healthy during the screening carried out before the start of the novelty games, suddenly collapsed and died.The novelty game was aimed at ensuring none of the government officials had such misfortune.Until his death Thursday, Tinubu was Gov Ambode’s special adviser on commerce. He was to commerce from sports during  during the recent cabinet shake up carried out by the Lagos State government.

Dont go for second term-Obasanjo tells Buhari

The former President of Nigeria Dr Olusegun Obasanjo has yesterday advised President Muhammadu Buhari not to run for a second term.
He accused the President of nepotism, having a poor understanding of politics and engaging in blame games rather than accepting responsibility for his failure.Obasanjo said he worked against his former party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to help the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Buhari win the last presidential election.

MTN Launches 5G technology: First in Africa

MTN says it has achieved download speeds of more than 20 gigabits per second in its first trial of fifth-generation (5G) technology. “This is the highest achieved on a mobile network in Africa‚” the service provider said in a statement on Monday. It said it was ready to deploy the technology commercially but could not do so until it had access to additional frequency spectrum.

 The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa‚ which regulates spectrum‚ has not yet allocated spectrum for 4G infrastructure‚ TechCentral reported‚ forcing operators to reallocate 2G and 3G spectrum. Said MTN South Africa chief technology and innovation officer Giovanni Chiarelli: “There is no doubt that 5G will offer the consumer higher speeds and lower latency‚ but to achieve this we need the capacity that comes with additional spectrum.
