OSINBAJO DECRIES HUGE EXODUS OF DOCTORS FROM NIGERIA

The Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, on Monday decried the way Nigerian doctors are leaving the country in droves saying the government now has an opportunity to bring back the doctors. Mr. Osinbajo, who spoke at the 60th-anniversary celebration of the University College Hospital, UCH, Ibadan, said that the dismal levels of job satisfaction caused by poor healthcare system in Nigeria were responsible for the “alarming” brain drain in the country’s health sector. The vice president’s remarks comes a few days after the Chairman, Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Lagos State branch, Olumuyiwa Odusote, lamented the exodus of doctors from Nigeria. Recent events have raised the issue, Should the pulpit always avoid politics? It depends on what we mean by “politics;” it demeans the pulpit to use it for partisan politics. But here are ten reasons why I don’t think politics and religion should (or even can) be completely separate: 1) The Word of God has something to say about all of life, beyond just the spiritual. At Last a Nigerian University Ranks among worlds best

Nigeria's premier University, The University of Ibadan has secured a spot in the top 978 ranked universities in the world. In the ranking released by the Times Higher Education, The university was ranked 801 alongside several others. UI was also the only Nigerian university to make the list. Earlier in 2016, the Academic Ranking of World Universities (AWRU) and the Center for World Universities Ranking (CWUR) released a list of the top 500 and 1000 world universities respectively and no Nigerian university was on the list. CWUR said that Nigerian universities were not considered for the ranking because of lack of quality research.
