NUC: New List of illegal Universities in Nigeria

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has released the list of 58 illegal universities and degree awarding institutions in Nigeria. The commission said the universities are yet to be licensed by the federal government and have been shut down for violating the national minimum standard for education. . A Monday bulletin from the office of the Executive Secretary on NUC, dated May 14, listed all the illegal universities across the country. The universities Include: 1. University of Accountancy and Management Studies, operating anywhere in Nigeria 2. Christians of Charity American University of Science and Technology, Nkpor, Anambra State or any of its other campuses 3. University of Industry, Yaba, Lagos or any of its other campuses 4. Wild jubilation broke out among MPs and on the streets of Zimbabwe when Mudenda told the House. The 93-year-old Mugabe president resigned in a letter he submitted to parliament hours after his party and Zimbabwe’s ruling party, Zanu-PF, presented a motion to impeach him. Mugabe had been accused of allowing his wife Grace, 52, hijack power and being too old to rule. The Parliament’s leader said he was working on legal issues that would enable vice president, Emmerson ‘The Crocodile’ Mnangagwa, to take over within 48 hours. Mugabe’s sudden downfall lies in rivalry between members of Zimbabwe’s ruling elite over who will succeed him, rather than popular protests against his rule by the people. The army seized power after Mugabe sacked Mnangagwa, the ruling party’s favourite to succeed him. MTN Launches 5G technology: First in Africa

MTN says it has achieved download speeds of more than 20 gigabits per second in its first trial of fifth-generation (5G) technology. “This is the highest achieved on a mobile network in Africa‚” the service provider said in a statement on Monday. It said it was ready to deploy the technology commercially but could not do so until it had access to additional frequency spectrum. The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa‚ which regulates spectrum‚ has not yet allocated spectrum for 4G infrastructure‚ TechCentral reported‚ forcing operators to reallocate 2G and 3G spectrum. Said MTN South Africa chief technology and innovation officer Giovanni Chiarelli: “There is no doubt that 5G will offer the consumer higher speeds and lower latency‚ but to achieve this we need the capacity that comes with additional spectrum. 2018 JAMB BANS 16 ITEMS

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has listed 16 items including eye glasses and wrist watches that will not be allowed into the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) hall JAMB UTME Monitoring groups secretary, Ngozi Egbuna, made the disclosure in a memo to some civil society groups which will participate in the monitoring of the examination, Vanguard reports. The board however, stated that eye grasses worn by candidates on medical grounds would be thoroughly scrutinized by invigilators to ensure they were not for ulterior motives.
