Nigeria will stop importing and exporting fuel by 2019- Femi Adesina

The Special Adviser to the President of Nigeria on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina has said that the country will stop importation and exportation of petroleum products by the year 2019.

He said that importation and exportation of fuel has a high effect on the lingering fuel crisis because the country does not produce the product locally and the refineries do not work, which makes room for little hitches in the inflow.

“When you import fuel and do not produce fuel locally or the refineries do not work once in a while fuel scarcity should be expected, as long as you have those variables not under your total control you can’t rule that out.

Mr Adesina made this known while speaking as a guest on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily, where he explained that the Minister of State For Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachukwu, has drawn a timetable leading to 2019, noting that part of the plan is that Nigeria will stop importing but exporting.

Concerning the unemployment rate in the country which the National Bureau of Statics recently released a data saying that unemployment has increased in the 3rd quarter of 2017, Mr Adesina said that there is an increase agricultural sector especially rice farming, mining and solid minerals.

He further explained that shortly after the Buhari-led administration came into power the country entered into recession and oil prices went down but within a year the country came out of recession, he added that as the economy starts to settle gradually jobs that were lost will be gained back.

MTN Launches 5G technology: First in Africa

MTN says it has achieved download speeds of more than 20 gigabits per second in its first trial of fifth-generation (5G) technology. “This is the highest achieved on a mobile network in Africa‚” the service provider said in a statement on Monday. FOUR FAKE SARS MEN, ROBBERS KILLED IN RIVERS STATE

Four Criminals parading themselves as operatives of the Federal S pecial Anti-Robbery Squad SARS have been gunned down in port harcourt Rivers State. ZIMBABWE: FORMER VP EMMERSON TO REPLACE MOGABE

Emmerson Mnangagwa, a former vice president of Zimbabwean , who was sacked by Robert Mugabe, would be sworn in Wednesday, media reports say. Local media and Zimbabwean sources said Mr. Mnangagwa would be sworn in within 48hours that's Wednesday to replace Mr. Mugabe who resigned on Tuesday after 37-years in office as president. The 75-year-old was removed from office and exiled 13 days after Mr. Mugabe accused him of disloyalty and insubordination. Mr. Mugabe had reportedly taken the action to pave way for his wife, Grace, to emerge as the new leader of ruling Zanu-PF ahead of the country’s general election next year. Mr. Mnangagwa is said to be popular amongst the powerful War Veterans group and the Zimbabwean military chiefs.
